    And there’s more..!

Zacuto now offers two rigs for the Sony FS5 and FS5 II. The Sony FS5 EVF Recoil is for shooters who prefer to use an electronic viewfinder like our Gratical HD, and the Sony FS5 Z-Finder Recoil is an all in one solution that uses a Zacuto Z-Finder on the Sony LCD screen. These rigs are also available with flip up grips in our Recoil Pro line.

Our Sony FS5 and FS5 II Z-Finder slides onto the Sony LCD and uses our standard clip on/clip off loupe. It has a 2x magnification, drop in diopters plus the diopter ring, and an auto-close eyecup. It can be used alone with the camers for added focusability and stability or as part of a rig. Mount it directly to the camera using a rod that’s part of the Sony LCD, or using our FS5 Top Plate which comes with a 3″ rod for mounting the Z-Finder, or with a Top Plate Axis Mini combination which gives you the stability and 360 degree articulation. So many options! Find the one that’s right for you.

    And ACTION! First footage

Zacuto friends Den Lennie and Mick Jones teamed up to bring us the first Sony FS5 footage. Shot in beautiful Australia in 4K(3840×2160).

I am a Swedish filmmaker and I have been making documentaries for more than 30 years in different places int he world. My first camera was a Super 16 Aaton and ever since video and the digital tools became commonplace I have been waiting for a camera to equal and surpass the Aaton camera. In my last film “Storm in the Andes” ( we worked with the Sony EX1R and this was approaching a perfect documentary camera. Now I have acquired a Sony FS5 and it is one step closer to perfection for a docu camera. Nevertheless there are some improvements that you as a third party provider of equipment can provide. One is a Z-finder as referred to hear above but I would like to add that it should have a flip up function leaving a sun shading hood when in open position. On all the types of standard professional news gathering video cameras this has been common and it is extremely useful because of the flexibility it gives to change viewing position depending on the light conditions and the angel/camera position you are using.
To take the perfection ons step further with this camera a light and unobtrusive and preferably retractable should mount should also be constructed. This shoulder mount should be small and flexible enough to be able to have mounted on the camera in a way that permits it to stay in place even if you use the camera handheld or decide to put it on a tripod. In docu filming and especially when you are operasting alone this kind of versatility is worth anything. I would not hesitate to pay a fair amount of money for a really good equipment in these two cases. And I am absolutely convinced that the majority of the fast growing SONY FS5 tribe think exactly the same thing. So Zacuto – don’t keep us waiting to long!
