Scott Lynch

Filmmaker

Scott Lynch got his start in filmmaking in Michigan at the age of 12 with a loaned VHS camera from his aunt. Throughout his teenage years he made numerous short films and animations concluding with a dramatic-action short film about World War One where he had his friends help him dig a 60ft long and 6ft deep trench in his parents back yard. Unfortunately, the film was never picked up for distribution but it did instill in Scott with a undying passion for making films.

He briefly studied Film at Michigan State University and Lansing Community College, during this time he was a two time finalist in Microsoft’s Imagine Cup which allowed him to shoot short films in both Japan and India. But he became frustrated with quality of his education and quit school to hire himself out as a freelance camera operator and editor. For the next few years he shot and edited numerous music videos, tv shows, corporate pieces, weddings, commercials and edited a feature documentary about Hurricane Katrina that was screened at 26 different film festivals in 2007.

Scott moved to Chicago in August of 2007 and within a few weeks started working for Zacuto in their Rental Department. As Zacuto grew, Steve Weiss and Jens Bogehegn realized that the company was going to need video content produced in-house and asked him to organize and produce the shoots. Scott Lynch is now the Video Producer for Zacuto and has produced 100’s of videos including the web series FilmFellas, , The Great Camera Shootouts, and the newest series BTS which is in production now. Recently, FilmFellas Cast 7 was nominated for an Emmy and was honored with an Emmy Award for Winning Series (Midwest Chapter): "The Great Camera Shootout 2010".

Scott continues to produce and shoot music videos and short films in Chicago and is currently working on a Sci-Fi web series that will premiere in early 2011.
