bts: a web series

Four filmmakers, two films, one location

Zacuto Films presents bts, an Emmy nominated web series that goes behind-the-scenes to document the making of a documentary film. In this Documentary About Making Documentaries, the Zacuto Films production team travels to Rwanda to follow Director T.C. Johnstone, Producer Greg Kwedar and their entire film crew during the last 18-days of filming Rising From Ashes: a film about Rwandan's first national cycling team.
In this three part web series, Zacuto bts crew captures what it takes to make a documentary film. Fighting torrential rains, oncoming traffic, mass crowds of children and lack of sleep, Director T.C. Johnstone and Producer Greg Kwedar brave the elements just to get the perfect shot. “You don’t know what’s going to happen,” says Johnstone. “This is Africa and you’re walking into a risky situation to shoot these types of films.” Watch to see what kind of problems they run into.
