The Cine Gear Expo is one of the fastest growing cinema expositions in the United States. Now in its 16th year, Cine Gear features a wide variety of exhibits, seminars, film series and more. Located on the Paramount Studios lot, the event takes place in the heart of the filmmaking capital of the world, Los Angeles, California. This annual four day conference includes: exhibits, Premiere and Master Class seminars, film series competition & finalist screenings, 3D symposium and technology salon, new product announcements, demonstrations, a VIP awards ceremony, special events and much more. The only thing missing is Zacuto.
But fear not, loyal gearheads. Zacuto has been in attendance at Cine Gear for the last few years and we wouldn’t dream of missing it this year. Come on by booth number 74 on June 3rd or 4th to meet some of the faces behind Zacuto including Steve Weiss and Jens Bogehegn and check out some of our latest products. Steve Weiss, Zacuto director and product designer will also be hosting a live broadcast with networking video product design company, Teradek.

Look for the Zacuto Balloon at Cine Gear!
Zacuto always has loads of new gear to show and this year is definitely no exception. If you would like to see one of our brand new Z-Finder EVFs up close and personal, we will have plenty of production models at the show for you to play with. The Z-Finder EVF features 800×480 resolution, a 3.2” display, custom image scaling, focus assist, exposure assist, an HDMI loop through and a ton of other functions. This ultramodern electronic viewfinder not only works with those hot new DSLR cameras but is also compatible with any camera using an HDMI output including the Panasonic AG-AF100, Sony FS100, Sony F3, Scarlet, Red One and Epic. Our Z-Finder EVF comes in either a snap-on or flip-up version so you have the option to remove your Z-Finder from the EVF body completely or simply flip it up and out of the way at your convenience. Plus, all previous versions of our Z-Finder are compatible with the Z-Finder EVF. How’s that for convenience?

The Zacuto EVF Flip
While you’re at, you may also want to take a look at our cutting-edge DSLR camera support system, the Scorpion. This new rig combines current Zacuto parts with a new ball-joint technology that allows the user to fine tune the camera rig’s positioning. The Scorpion’s new form-fitting shoulder pad uses a permeable gel padding that conforms to the shooter’s body for maximum comfort. The entire shoulder pad has the ability to articulate in multiple directions so shooters can angle it to fit their body for those long shooting days.
“The Scorpion rig was very comfortable and ergonomic. I did not have to take it off once during the shoot. It really is the best DSLR rig I have ever used,“ said Hollywood-based cinematographer, Jared Abrams.
The Scorpion also features a collapsible handle that can be used for lifting the rig into position or capturing low shots. The handle folds up and can be tucked away when not being used, allowing for a more compact camera stabilization system. This new DSLR setup lowers your rig’s center of gravity which makes it easier to position your EVF and balance your rig. The Scorpion challenges the conventions of previous DSLR support systems and is guaranteed to be one of if not the best solution to DSLR camera stabilization.
We love events like this for so many reasons but the best part is getting to meet all of our friends we know from the internet. Cine Gear is definitely one of the best places to do just that. We hope to see you there!
