Zacuto Films: 2010 Double Emmy Nominee for “The Great Camera Shootout” + “FilmFellas”

double_emmyad The Chicago Midwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that Zacuto Films received a double nomination for Outstanding Achievement for a Program Series. Zacuto Films receives the 2010 Emmy Nomination for two of their webisodic programs “FilmFellas” and “The Great Camera Shootout 2010.” Both web series are created by video and film veterans, Steve Weiss and Jens Bogehegn. “It’s great to be recognized this way for something we love to do,” says Web Series Producer Jens Bogehegn, “It’s an unexpected honor for just trying to help inform.”

A total of 7 Nominees are included in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Informational Programs, Conversation/Interview, Single Program or Program Series. “FilmFellas” and “The Great Camera Shootout 2010,” are the only web based programs included in the nominations and the selected shows are going up against major television and cable programs. “I never saw this one coming, but I’m happy to be nominated,” says Web Series Director Steve Weiss, “It’s so much fun making the shows…this is such an added bonus.”

With a total of 8 FilmFellas Cast Seasons, the Emmy Selection is from Cast 7: Webisode 30 “What is Truth,” which kicks off with a game of telephone to demonstrate the complexities of documenting history. FilmFellas Cast 7: “Masters of Non-Fiction” features an award winning cast of Documentary filmmakers with David Grubin, one of the most decorated documentarians in history with 10 Emmys (The American Experience, The Jewish Americans, LBJ, RFK, FDR), Ondi Timoner 2009 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for We Live In Public & the 2004 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for DIG; and Sean Dunne: a web based documentarian and Sundance Official Selection for The Archive.

Also included in the nominees for Outstanding Program Series includes, “The Great Camera Shootout 2010: a three part web series where gunslinging HD DSLRs face-off against legendary 35mm Film.” The webisodic series showcases the top performing hybrid HD-DSLR cameras: Canon: 5D MKII, 7D, 1D, 550D/T2i Rebel, Nikon D3s, Panasonic GH1 and compares the image quality of these cameras against the gold standard of 35mm film. “This was an enormous undertaking,” says Steve Weiss Web Series Director, “and great care was taken to make this an apples-to-apples test with scientific accuracy behind it.” Come watch the Emmy Nominated Web Series: FilmFellas and The Great Camera Shootout 2010.
